Olivier Deschenes

Olivier Deschenes is the parent of a current WSSB student and has lived in Santa Barbara since 2001, working at UC Santa Barbara as a professor of Economics. He is originally from Quebec, Canada, and attended the University of Montreal (BA and MA in Economics, 1995, 1996) and Princeton University (PhD, in Economics, 2001) before coming to Santa Barbara. He brings a passion for data and analytics to the Board and Finance Committee.

His professional interests are in environmental economics and data analysis. In his research, he studies the health and labor market consequences of climate change and renewable energy transitions. His hobbies include winemaking, cooking, gardening, and music.

Olivier is honored to serve on the WSSB Board and to contribute to its continued success and growth.
