Biodynamic gardening and farming methods restore and enhance our soils, supporting the growth of healthy, enlivened foods while nurturing our kinship to the earth: a relationship born out of the beauty and wisdom of the cosmos.
About Harald Hoven:
After completing a Biodynamic training in Germany, Harald started farming in the Sacramento, CA area. For 30 years, he worked as a farmer and teacher of Biodynamics at Rudolf Steiner College, where he established a diversified small farm and trained close to 100 apprentices. Hike-A-Thon
HIKE-A-THON
May 16, 2025
Our annual Hike-a-Thon is the major WSSB fundraiser led by our students. This invigorating, joyous, community-building event gives our children the opportunity to set a personal challenge for themselves (a certain number of miles hiked/run) while being of service to their school.
The Hike-a-Thon will be held at Toro Canyon Park in Carpinteria.
We are also pleased to announce that this year a portion of money raised will support the local non-profit "Beekeppers Guild of Santa Barbara." Your Hike-a-Thon contribution will not only support the good work done at WSSB, but also the good work of this local non-profit organization that serves to save bees by educating the community about their importance.
Our goal this year is 100% participation among all WSSB families and $20,000 or about $200 per student.
Thank you for your support.
Special thanks to the IV Food Co-op for their generous donation of snack items for this event! Make sure to support them, especially during this challenging time for them.

Waldorf Book Sale
In an effort to support our fellow Waldorf communities in Los Angeles who have lost so much due to wildfires, we will be holding a community wide book sale on February 7th and 8th in The Great Room. In coordination with the administrations of the Westside and Pasadena Waldorf schools, all proceeds from the book sale would go directly to those most in need, a gesture of our support and fellowship.
