Home Stretch
Dear Members of The Waldorf School of Santa Barbara Community,
With a week now to go, we are running the home stretch to summer. While this year has been fraught with trials nationally and globally, it has been grace-filled and nourishing for our WSSB community, especially -- and most importantly -- the children. (The grace and nourishment, for example, were felt by all yesterday during the Kindergarten graduation.)
We are thankful for you, parents and caretakers, for your ongoing support. Words from Norman Fischer regarding the Bodhisattva path are apt: "As recommended by Dogen, reduce your practice of patience to two simple practices: first, just keeping going, no matter what happens; and second, be of benefit to others." For the sake of the children, may it be so.
In gratitude,
The WSSB Admin Team
PS The poem of the day is by the great Jalal al-Din Rumi (translated by the great Coleman Barks):
Today, like every other day, we wake up empty
and frightened. Don’t open the door to the study
and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the ground.
