Laura Macker joined the Waldorf School of Santa Barbara community in 2011 as a parent in the parent-child workshop. After being an involved parent for many years wherein she developed a deep love, study, and admiration for Waldorf Education, Laura joined the faculty as a Learning Support Teacher in 2018. Laura attended Cornell University, UCLA, and received her California Teacher Credential in Elementary Education and Master's in Education from UC Santa Barbara. She has worked in private and public schools in the Santa Barbara area and spent many years as a Learning Center teacher at Hollister School in Goleta. A certified doula, Laura has also worked with the Santa Barbara Birth Center and Santa Barbara Midwifery. Laura feels great gratitude for the WSSB community, the education her two daughters (Lavender Rose Preschool and Grade 4) receive, and the opportunity to serve the children and support the teachers in the classroom.
