Barbara was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, where she was blessed with a childhood filled with beauty and nature.

She thrived with beach outings, mountain hikes, horseback riding and sailing. The arts were a large part of her education: music, dance, and later, crafts such as shoe making, woodworking, bookbinding, spinning, knitting, weaving and pottery.

She moved to beautiful Sonoma County where she received a BA in Theater, married, and raised three children. Although she had met Anthroposophy earlier, Waldorf education came to the fore with the birth of her children. Soon she was taking classes, became a kindergarten assistant and did her teacher training at the Rudolf Steiner College.

She completed her Masters in Education at Touro University with a thesis on the Arts in Waldorf Education, is a certified Nurturing Arts practitioner, and has completed artistic and therapeutic singing trainings through the School for Uncovering the Voice, which she continues to teach to adults and educators.

Her Waldorf teaching career includes directing a preschool in her own home program, vocal and recorder instruction privately and in the classroom, and grades class teaching. She has found her passion through teaching Parent Toddler classes for over 15 years, and in more recent years has led Parent Baby classes.

She has been at the Waldorf School of Santa Barbara since 2013 where she has has taught the Parent Toddler program, assisted, and have been a lead nursery and preschool teacher. To support her work with toddlers and babies, she completed the RIE Foundations course at the center in Los Angeles and is currently finishing Second Year Studies with Liz Memel in Ojai. To further inform her work with parents, she became a certified Simplicity Parenting Family Life coach based on the work of Kim John Payne.
